Rorschach – Aviation has always attracted the best engineers, the most innovative entrepreneurs and the most courageous investors. The history of the development of flying has been significantly influenced by tinkerers from Germany, Austria, Italy, France and Switzerland. Red Eagle Suisse GmbH, based in Rorschach in the canton of Sankt Gallen, wants to continue this proud tradition. The team of experts around Ulrich T. Grabowski aims to make flying even quieter, more aerodynamic and more intelligent. The aim is to combine concentrated know-how with Swiss characteristics such as precision, reliability and safety.

The head of the company is Chief Executive Officer Ulrich T. Grabowski, who can look back on extensive management experience in various companies. From 1997 to 2000, he was an advisor to the presidium of the German ADAC. Europe's largest traffic club offers not only breakdown assistance for motorists, but also various insurance services. Grabowski worked for ADAC as sales and marketing manager for financial services. At the AXA insurance group he was the member of the board responsible for direct insurance policies from 2000 to 2002. After that he was a member of the Management Board of the Munich-based BCP Unternehmensberatung AG until 2005. This was followed by management positions at cash.life AG in Pullach and Nuremberg-based TA Triumph-Adler GmbH, which was still a public limited company during Grabowski's time as a member of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the Marketing Committee from 2005 to 2010. During this time he also began working as a strategy consultant for well-known insurance companies. From 2010 to 2013 he was Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Kautionskasse AG in Starnberg and from 2014 to 2019 he worked as a freelance management consultant. Since this year he is managing director of Red Eagle Suisse GmbH.

In this function, he wants to turn the canton of Sankt Gallen into a hub for advanced aircraft technology by involving numerous aircraft developers. „It was an almost logical decision to opt for the economic heart and safest bastion in Europe“, says Grabowski of the choice of location. When asked about his new activity in aircraft construction, he becomes more specific: „Red Eagle Suisse is a company for hybrid aircraft in the field of manned and unmanned reconnaissance. We cooperate with international companies in the field of airborne remote sensing and reconnaissance.“

Red Eagle Suisse is currently developing a unique aircraft called the „red eagle“, which will glide through the air, manned or unmanned, over long distances as quietly and economically as possible. This reconnaissance aircraft will be able to overlook and thus control national borders and large industrial plants, pipelines and vast areas of sea or desert. One example of the innovative product range of Red Eagle Suisse is the „Red Thor 500“, which has already found its admirers on the international aircraft market. This reconnaissance aircraft impresses with a payload of 750 kilograms and a flight performance in the medium to upper class. Its range of applications includes airborne surveillance of the seas and port facilities as well as traffic.

„The EU border protection agency Frontex would also be another potential customer“, Grabowski is convinced. Frontex – the European Border and Coast Guard Agency –was founded in 2004 with the aim of helping the Member States of the European Union to protect the external borders of the EU area. In 2016, Frontex was expanded to play a greater role in controlling migration flows and fighting cross-border crime. Frontex is one of the cornerstones of security in the European Union. In order to be able to fulfil this task, the authority needs state-of-the-art technology. This primarily includes aircraft for border control and remote surveillance. Red Eagle Suisse GmbH seems to be able to count on demand in this area.

The „Red Thor“, which follows on from the design of the Fieseler Storch, is intended to reduce the requirements on take-off and landing routes by means of a low minimum flight speed. For take-off, 50 metres were sufficient for the Storch in headwind conditions, and 20 metres for landing. In headwind conditions, the Fieseler Storch could almost stand in the air or even move backwards. Red Eagle Suisse wants to take these characteristics into account in its aircraft types. „Red Egale Suisse will be a big business“, believes Ulrich Grabowski, who has made it from an insurance expert and management consultant to a successful industrial entrepreneur.
